10 things we hope will be included in the Elden Ring downloadable content

Elden Ring

The meteoric success that the action-RPG has experienced since its launch in late February makes it seem almost certain that there will be additional content added in the future. What form that takes exactly remains to be seen, however, as both FromSoftware and Bandai Namco are keeping their tarot cards close to their chests for the time being. A pretty bizarre live-action trailer starring UFC fighter Israel Adesanya was released in June as a result of this, and game director Hidetaka Miyizaki assured players that updates to Elden Ring will continue to be made in the future. To that end, we anticipate seeing more of the technical tweaks and fixes that have been implemented over the course of the past few months in due course; however, we are curious as to what a full-fledged premium DLC might entail. Our Elden Ring downloadable content (DLC) wishlist includes the following ten things that we’d like to see added to the Lands Between.

New regions that delve deeper into the established lore

1. When it comes to any of FromSoftware’s previous titles, the most exciting aspect of each game’s downloadable content (DLC) is the opportunity to investigate new locales

2.  Frequently, these expansions are an extension of the lore and narrative of their respective source material, sometimes tying up loose ends and putting long-standing questions to bed, and other times unraveling new ones, leaving us with more unanswered questions than we have ever had before

3.  However, despite the fact that the cursed brother of Melania plays a fairly significant role in, well, pretty much everything in PC Elden Ring Runes, we don’t actually know all that much about him

4.  Dataminers discovered previously unheard dialogue for Miquella not long after the game’s release, so it’s possible that we will actually get to hear this

5.  A significant portion of Elden Ring is based on cosmic horror, and I would be thrilled to see something Lovecraftian – something that combines the most depraved aspects of the Lands Between with the last third of Bloodborne’s story

6.  And while we’re on the subject of twisted, I can honestly say that there isn’t a single part of Elden Ring that I despise more than any other, despite the fact that I do have my preferences

7.  There isn’t a location that makes me feel like crap every time I step into it, one that I love to hate and hate to love at the same time

8.  Give me something similar to Sen’s Fortress, an analogous location to Blighttown, or, dare I say it, The Gutter from Dark Souls 2 as an option

9.  I’d love to learn more about dragons in general, but I think it would be particularly exciting to do battle with the mighty Gransax, a colossal beast that is rumored to be larger than Placidusax, or to go up against Greyoll when she was at the height of her power, before she could be defeated by spam-bleeding attacks directed at her tail

Cut content locations

And while we’re at it, I’d love to see some of Elden Ring’s cut content locations restored, particularly that super-awesome-looking colosseum that was discovered by a prolific dataminer and modder, Lance Macdonald, just a few weeks after the game was initially released. According to information provided by Sekiro Dubi in a subsequent piece of content, the Lands Between is home to three dormant colosseums that are currently inaccessible to players. These arenas can be found in Leyndell, Limgrave, and Caelid respectively. It is difficult to picture these distinct open spaces without also thinking about the towering beasts that could potentially inhabit them, as is the case with any game developed by FromSoftware. In Dark Souls 3, the chambers of Pontiff Sulyvahn have a mezzanine located at the back of the room. Even though none of these locations were necessarily intended to be used specifically for player versus player (PvP) combat, due to the relatively small size of the maps in the Dark Souls series, players have eventually settled in these areas in order to engage in PvP with other people online. On the other hand, Elden Ring is so flat, large, and sprawling that there isn’t really a dedicated single location for players who are interested in PvP to gather and fight to the death. If I had to choose, I’d say the Mountaintops of the Giants location at the end of the game is the best one, but adding something fresh and exciting in the form of downloadable content (DLC) would be very appreciated.

The snow levels that FromSoftware creates are very good. In point of fact, because of how well FromSoftware handles snow levels, the Painted World of Ariamis and the Painted World of Ariandel are among my favorite locations in any of the meticulously crafted worlds that the developer has created. A Painted World that can be accessed through the Lands Between seems like it would be a good fit with both the overarching narrative of Elden Ring and the realms that exist to house evil people who have been exiled from the normal world as we know Elden Ring items. Godfrey would be an excellent choice for residency in the Painted World, and if I’m being completely honest, I really did anticipate that one or two of his castle paintings would serve as a portal to a location that was functionally equivalent to the Elden Ring. Eliminating the current multiplayer restrictions would make the Elden Ring co-op experience more fluid, more realistic, and most importantly, a great deal more enjoyable. These restrictions include having to mess around with Furled Fingers and summoning signs, losing connection if one of you dies, and being forced to disconnect once a boss is defeated. The PC modder LukeYui created a version of Elden Ring that allows players to form alliances at any point during the game, beginning with the game’s tutorial and continuing all the way through to the game’s final boss. In its most basic form, Reflections of Strength is a game mode that gives players the opportunity to engage in a rematch with bosses they have previously defeated. This is an event that does not occur in games such as Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Demon’s Souls. Beating a particularly difficult boss multiple times not only does wonders for your ego, but it also helps players improve on the fundamentals that are the backbone of games like Elden Ring. These fundamentals include timing, rhythm, and movement in attack and defense.

Give Torrent some love

Torrent, the player’s faithful ethereal steed, is a formidable companion in Elden Ring’s early game. Torrent can be found in the Luminous Realm. Something extensive with mounts in mind would be great – I’d love to see something PvP-focused; jousting, anyone? – but I’d be just as happy to settle for the most straightforward of updates that might allow Torrent to hold their own against some of Elden Ring’s more capable foes toward the game’s end. Something expansive with mounts in mind would be great Something PvP-focused; jousting, anyone? To put it in the most simplistic terms possible, I’d be thrilled if any future Elden Ring downloadable content included additional customization options. At the most fundamental level, the opportunity to color our armor and weapons would be wonderful. On the other hand, it would be amazing if we could create our very own Ashes of War in the same vein as some of the game world’s more esoteric characters.

Adjustments to the game’s balance and various bug fixes

In defense of FromSoftware, the developer has been extremely thorough and consistent with Elden Ring bug fixes and quality of life adjustments ever since the game was first released. But as more time passes and more players push the limits of the action-RPG in new and interesting ways, both in New Game+ and beyond, more things that need to be fixed continue to come to light. Still to this day, collision placement bugs drive me crazy. For example, when I try to drop attack an opponent who is standing on a lower platform, but instead I am pushed a few meters forward and then I fall into the void.
