Olive Hill – A Journey worth Making

Olive Hill

Looking for ‘bus trips near me’?

Well, you are not alone. The last two years have drained most people out and being confined to their homes has made all of us desperate to go out and enjoy ourselves.

And while many travelers seek refuge in vacations outside their country, many of them are looking at their own neighborhoods with brand-new curiosity.

One of the states that have gained immense popularity as a superb travel destination in Kentucky. The Bluegrass State is known for its incredible natural beauty, warm southern hospitality, and gorgeous little towns and cities.

More and more people are signing up for bus tours in Kentucky. They want a dose of Americana and lap up local flavors and culture.

Outstanding Olive Hill

Many towns in Kentucky are thought of as being in the middle of nowhere. However, it is those very places that have the best-hidden gems that are just waiting for you to come and explore them.

A small town located east of Lexington, Olive Hill is a lovely place to visit if you are looking for undisturbed peace and quiet which will help you to recharge your batteries and get ready for the hectic life back home.

In earlier days, Olive Hill was a railroad town, famous for being the largest fire bricks producer in the world during the 1940-50s.

You can start your trip here at the super gorgeous Carver Caves State Resort Park. These have the most majestic caves in the entire state and you can explore four of these. If you are traveling with family, you can choose among the offered guided tours which range from child-friendly to the difficult ones in which one has to crawl through narrow cave passages.

All that exploration does come at a price – your tummy! To kill those hunger pangs, you can have the bison brisket or buffalo meatloaf at Tierney’s Cavern Restaurant.

If caves are not your thing, how about taking on some outdoor recreational activities? You can paddle around in the Smoky Valley Lake or go climbing or rappelling up the sandstone cliff line. Many visitors prefer checking out the Carter Caves Trail System which comprises around 25 miles of nature trails going around the caves. On route, you will encounter bluffs, breathtaking views of the Smoky Valley Lake, arches, bridges, and rock houses.

Another option is the 4Cs or the Carter Caves Cross Country Trail which allows hikers many delightful views of the lake and sandstone arches.

Eating Around

If all that hiking has wrung you out and you need sustenance, you’ll be glad to know that familiar chain restaurants, like Subway, Mc Donald’s, etc. are all present in Olive Hill.

However, bus trips in Olive Hill, KY, will surely be incomplete without trying out the local delicacies.

For these, your first stop should be Walker’s Family Restaurant. You can munch happily on their burgers, sandwiches, daily plate specials, and crispy chicken fingers.

Pizza lovers would adore Tyler’s Pizza. You can also chomp on salads, wings, breadsticks, and more. Your excellent meal can come to an end with either ice cream from Katie’s Corner or donuts, pie, or cake at the Sweet Sensations bakery.

If bus tours are your latest thing, you now know which your next travel destination is!
